Singapore gambling and vice raids lead to 78 arrests
Singaporean authorities have confirmed 78 arrests in relation to gambling and vice activities after a six-day police operation in the Southeast Asian city-state.
A statement released on Sunday revealed that 27 men and 10 women were apprehended on suspicion of illegal gambling, with 14 computers seized along with more than SGD $6,500 in cash.

Another 38 women were taken into custody under the Women’s Charter, while three men are being held on immigration offences.
The Central Police Division raided several locations around Chinatown, Jalan Besar and Tiong Bahru, including Beach Road, Havelock Road, People’s Park Complex, Sam Leong Road and York Hill.
Under Singapore law, any person found guilty of operating a gambling house could be fined up to $50,000 or sentenced to three years in prison.
A number of those arrested are facing charges relating to prostitution, which could result in a $10,000 fine or a jail term of up to five years.
Investigations are ongoing, which could lead to further arrests in the coming weeks and months.
