Stargroup CEO, Todd Zani, shows off the table deposit solution.

An Australian-based ATM operator is branching out and entering the casino industry with a range of products inspired by the Asian gambling market.

The Stargroup is an ASX-listed company based in Perth which deals predominately with ATMs and payment solutions. It manages over 2400 ATMs and processes around 16 million transactions.

But now it wants to break into the Australian land-based casino market, presenting a range of technology solutions at the 28th Australasian Gaming Expo this week.

The range includes a casino table deposit solution and several other payment innovations which incorporate foreign currency exchange to enhance the player’s overall experience.

According to the company, the casino deposit product enables punters to exchange their money for chips at the table, with up to five different currencies accepted. The automated machine distributes the chips to the players, reducing the waiting time prior to gameplay. It also submits live data to casino management so they can monitor table performance.

Another product displayed at the AGE was a “ticket in ticket out” system, which can accept large amounts of cash and tickets to speed up the payment process for casino operators.

The Stargroup indicated that these technologies are utilised in Asian countries, and a private Korean Group known as NeoICP would be manufacturing the products.

“We are pleased to finally launch and display at AGE in Australia some of the advanced technologies that have previously been successfully deployed by NeoICP into casinos in Korea, Macau and a number of other Asian countries,” Stargroup CEO, Todd Zani, said in a media release.

“We are working closely with NeoICP to tailor these solutions for the Australian market and are excited to announce that we are already fielding significant interest both in Australia and on behalf of other international customers and distributors.”

Stargroup also displayed its currency conversion terminal at the AGE, which is on its last day. The machine can exchange up to four different currencies into a local currency, such as the AUD. It is a popular product at airports and other tourist destinations.

The Australasian Gaming Expo

The AGE is the world’s third largest gaming equipment exhibition which takes place at the International Convention Centre (“ICC”) in Darling Harbour, Sydney.

The 2017 event has already attracted more exhibition stands – floor space sold out with 246 exhibition stands occupying the ICC. Attendance on the first day was also up by 22 percent on last year’s numbers, according to organisers.

Running from August 15-17, the event features an array of casino equipment solutions and even awards for the Best Stand by the Gaming Technologies Association. Judges determined the winner based on innovation, use of space, use of lighting, and other visual elements, as well as how well their stand attracted visitors.

Big Screen Video, experts in LCD screens for billboards and other applications, won the top prize. Hennessy Coffee, Next ATM, Bromic, Scent Central, and the 2016 winner, Satelight, all received a special mention.
