Partypoker LIVE to sponsor high stakes tournament in Montenegro

Partypoker LIVE has thrown its weight behind Triton Poker’s Super High Roller Series in Montenegro, beginning on Saturday.

The online poker company has announced it will sponsor Triton’s high stakes tournament, which will run from May 12-18 at the Maestral Resort and Casino in Budva.

The poker elite will have the option to contest four high stakes event with buy-ins from HKD $250,000 to $1 million.

“Triton is the world’s leading Super High Roller brand, known for putting on some of the biggest and most innovative tournaments on the planet. It’s a real privilege to position our brand alongside theirs at this elite festival,” Partypoker LIVE President John Duthie said.

The poker tournament will begin with the HKD 250K No Limit Hold’em event, with the $1 million Shortdeck Ante starting the following day.

The $1 million Main Event is the crowning event at the tournament, while it will close with the 250K No Limit Hold’em 6-Max event.

Poker pro and Partypoker amassador Ike Haxton said Triton had an unparalleled reputation for high stakes events.

Looking forward to playing the 6-Max and the Main Event, Triton always put on great events and I’m really looking forward to my first time visiting Montenegro.”

The tournament will be notable for the two events of high stakes Short Deck poker, which is very popular in Asia.

Short Deck poker features a smaller 36-card deck with 2-4s removed from the deck, while the Ace doubles as a 5.

The Main Event also has a twist with a shot clock active and making sure the pace of play goes at a fair clip.

Montenegro is a Eastern European country which shares borders with Herzegovina, Croatia and Bosnia.
